Administrative Director

Hi! My name is Laurie Smith Law, and I joined the staff of the University Honors Program as the Administrative Director in 2007. I served on the Board of Directors for the National Collegiate Honors Council from 2011 through 2014, and am currently co-chair of the organization’s Professional Development Committee. My primary responsibilities as the administrative director are to work in conjunction with the Honors staff and Honors Student Board to provide members of the Honors Program with an enriched academic experience.

Hello! My name is Frances Jackson, and I am a senior (#Woah!) in Agricultural Business and Accounting from Garwin, Iowa. I am so excited to be this year's President and lead our board in running some really exciting events this year! Outside of HSB, I am involved in Collegiate Women in Business, the Agricultural Business Club, and an RA in Frederiksen Court. In my free time, I can often be found crocheting or with my nose in a romance novel. If you see me around campus, say hi! I am excited to get to know as many of you as possible!

Hi everyone! My name is Monet and I am so excited for my second year serving as Webmaster for the Honors Student Board! I am a senior studying Political Science, and I plan to go into Museum Studies once I graduate. When I'm not in Jischke you can find me hanging out with my mini zoo (I have a dog, cat, hamster, and bearded dragon), reading, or crafting.

Hi guys! My name is Emily Pedersen, and I am a junior studying genetics on the Pre-Medical track. In my free time I enjoy spending time outside, running, and watching any medical-related show. I served as the Philanthropy Co-Chair, and I am very excited to be the First Year Outreach Chair! I have been an Honors 121 Seminar Leader, and am an Honors and an Undergraduate Research Ambassador, so I am passionate about Honors to say the least!

Hi! My name is Hope, and I'm a sophomore student majoring in Industrial Design with a minor in Urban Studies. I'm from Chicago, Illinois, but now I live in the Anders house of Barton. I was the Anders HSB Representative last year, but this year I'll be an Events Co-Chair! Outside of spending time with my honors house, I enjoy crafting, drawing, thrifting, and listening to music. I loved my experience in honors last year, and I'm excited to be Events Co-Chair on the board this year!

Hi, my name is Chloe, and I'll be the UHP Chair for the 2024-2025 school year! I am also involved in research through Dr. Mellata and Dr. Rowling's labs, undergraduate research ambassadors, honors ambassadors, and I am the poster chair for Stupka. In my free time, I enjoy running, reading, and trying new things! Some of the new things I’ve tried this year are rock wall climbing, bird watching, and baking. I am always looking for suggestions on what to try next, so reach out if you have any! :)

Hello! My name is Suryansh Mishra (or Sur) and I am re-entering the philanthropy co-chair position for the third year. I'm an Environmental Engineering student with a minor in English. I'm a resident assistant over at Maple Hall, the Hydroponics Lead for ESW, an avid water polo player, and a music enthusiast. I have a deep passion for service and have worked with many non-profits in different roles. It is something that brings me true joy. I'm looking forward to serving once again as your Philanthropy Co-Chair.

Hello! My name is Brooke Friese and I am a junior in Kinesiology & Health from Minnesota. I am so excited to serve as the Philanthropy Co-Chair this year! Outside of school, I spend my time hiking with friends and exercising. I enjoy coaching soccer at home in Minnesota, going to the farmers market, and trying new coffee shops. I am super excited for our Pamper with Puppers event this year as well as the honors ball!
