Hi! My name is Laurie Smith Law, and I joined the staff of the University Honors Program as the Administrative Director in 2007. I served on the Board of Directors for the National Collegiate Honors Council from 2011 through 2014, and am currently co-chair of the organization’s Professional Development Committee. My primary responsibilities as the administrative director are to work in conjunction with the Honors staff and Honors Student Board to provide members of the Honors Program with an enriched academic experience.

I am the University Honors Program Coordinator and the advisor for the Honors Student Board. I am from East Tennessee but my husband and I recently moved from Oklahoma. I completed graduate work in Gender/sexuality, medical, and 20th century US History at the University of Georgia. Some of my favorite things are reading cozy mysteries, traveling, eating at new places, board games, and escape rooms. If you want me to talk non-stop, ask me about my 2 new rescue dogs- JoJo (Dorgi) and Bentley (Standard Poodle).

Hey y’all! I am Drew Daly, and I am a Senior in Industrial Design minoring in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design. I am from Peosta, Iowa and miss the hills and bluffs it offers, but I love it here in Ames because of all the cool parks and places to swim. I am the President this year, and I am enthused to be a part of the team!! I enjoy anything art and design related as well as biking, running, lifting, playing golf, talking to my pet fish Philipé, and listening to music. Plus, I LOVE to dance and am always ready for a dance party!! I look forward to being with an amazing group and making a great year for the honors community!

Hi everyone! I’m Joy Westercamp and I am extremely excited to continue serving as the Vice President of HSB 2021-2022 academic year. I am a senior studying Biology with minors in Economics and Insect Science. I was a member of the Events and UHP Committees my first year at ISU and served on HSB as an Events Co-Chair for two years. I’m excited to be working with this year’s board and bringing you The Jischk every week. I can’t wait to have another wonderful year in the Honors Program and having the opportunity to help enrich their college experience and build community between Honors students!

Hi, everyone! I'm Anna, this year's HSB Secretary! I have two super fun, super quirky majors, which are horticulture and animal ecology. I'm involved in a few organizations outside of HSB, including Kappa Delta and Salt Company. I teach lifeguard courses at Ames High School, and I just started working in the Plant Introduction Lab, which has been a really unique experience! If you ever have any questions about HSB events going on, feel free to reach out to me! My student email is amwalls@iastate.edu. In my free time I listen to Taylor Swift, crochet, bake, garden, and generally live the life of an elderly retired woman.

Hello! I’m Taras-Michael (Taras) Butrie, a Junior in Aerospace Engineering, and I'm from Grand Blanc, Michigan. Besides being the FHP Committee Chair, I’m also the President of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship, and a clarinet in the Cyclone Hockey Pep Band. My hobbies include playing my clarinet, studying, singing, having fun with friends, and watching ISU sports.

Hi! I'm Matthew Pfab and I am currently the Upper Division Outreach Chair for the 2021-2022 school year. I am a senior majoring in Biology and minoring in Insect Science. I spent the first two years of my time at Iowa State in the Harwood Honors house, which helped me get super excited about the honors program. The memories I had from that unique environment were great and I hope that my time as the Upper Division Chair will help to create events that can enhance the honors experience for everyone!

Hi everyone! My name is Maggie, and I am a third year student studying Animal Ecology. I'm originally from the suburbs of Chicago and came to Iowa State with the goal of one day making it to vet school! This year, I will be holding one of the Event Co-Chair Positions, and I am so excited to start planning some really awesome events for all of you to attend! Outside of HSB, I have been involved in many other Honors groups. My first year I was a resident of an Honors clusters, last year, I was an FHP leader, and I am currently an Honors Ambassador. I also enjoy taking part in "grandma" activities, like knitting, collecting cats, and getting lots of sleep. Hope to see you all at our events!

Hi everyone! My name is Megan Bixby and I am from Chillicothe, IL. I am a senior majoring in Animal Science (pre-vet) and minoring in Spanish. I am a philanthropy co-chair for the 2021-2022 academic year and looking forward to working with fellow honors students to serve each other and the community. I love spending time with friends and family, watching Netflix shows, and crafting. I'm involved in many clubs on campus and have two jobs through Iowa State as well, so if you see me around say hi!

My name is Nat Agree, and I'm studying Physics and Chemistry at ISU. I'm from West Lafayette, IN. Outside of the HSB, I'm working on getting involved in various instrumental musical groups across campus, and I'm a member of the PLC. I spend a lot of my free time studying in Parks Library, or playing guitar in one of Martin's study rooms.

My name is John Hilker and I am a sophomore in Aerospace Engineering. I am the HSB Representative for Anders Honors House and am looking forward to a great year in Anders. Being from St. Louis I am a huge Cardinals and Blues fan. I am deeply passionate about aerospace and am an undergraduate researcher in aircraft icing. I am an avid rock climber and love to go out and boulder.
