Laurie Law

Administrative Director

Hi! My name is Laurie Smith Law, and I joined the staff of the University Honors Program as the Administrative Director in 2007. I served on the Board of Directors for the National Collegiate Honors Council from 2011 through 2014, and am currently co-chair of the organization’s Professional Development Committee. My primary responsibilities as the administrative director are to work in conjunction with the Honors staff and Honors Student Board to provide members of the Honors Program with an enriched academic experience.


Leisha Estep

Staff Advisor

I am the University Honors Program Coordinator and the advisor for the Honors Student Board. I am from East Tennessee but my husband and I recently moved from Oklahoma. I completed graduate work in Gender/sexuality, medical, and 20th century US History at the University of Georgia. Some of my favorite things are reading cozy mysteries, traveling, eating at new places, board games, and escape rooms. If you want me to talk non-stop, ask me about my 2 rescue dogs- JoJo (Dorgi) and Bentley (Standard Poodle).


Julia Litecky


Hey everyone! My name is Julia Litecky and I am a senior from Minneapolis studying Political Science and Journalism with a Criminal Justice minor. I plan to attend law school after I graduate this spring. I am so excited to be serving as this year's President! Beyond HSB, I am the secretary of DubH Hip Hop Club. I love to dance, roller blade, paint, and shop. If you see me around campus or in Jischke, come say hi!! I would love to get to know you all and make this another fantastic year in the honors community!


Frances Jackson


Hello! My name is Frances Jackson and I am a junior in Agricultural Business and Accounting from Garwin, Iowa. I am so excited to be this year's Vice President and provide you all with the Jischk each week! Outside of HSB, I am involved in Collegiate Women in Business, the Agricultural Business Club, and am an RA in Frederiksen Court. In my free time I can often be found working on my temperature blanket. If you see me around campus say hi! I am excited to get to know as many of you as possible!

Hi! My name is Ethan Rollinger and I am a junior double majoring in Agricultural Studies and Biology. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, working out, and watching football. I am excited to be the 2023-2024 Honors Student Board Secretary and I am looking forward to a great year of fun activities!


Morgan Simms

Hi everyone! My name is Morgan Simms, and I'm the Secretary for HSB this year. I'm a design major focused on interior design and am pursuing a minor in sustainability. Liya Mooradian


Hi there! I'm Liya Mooradian (she/her), a junior in Genetics. I'm super thrilled to serve as the Honors Student Board Treasurer this year, and become even more involved on campus and the Honors Program. Besides HSB, I’m an RA, TA, Research Assistant, General and Organic Chemistry Tutor, and a McNair Scholar. I am also a part of the Start Something Academy (formerly known as the LAS Innovation + Entrepreneurship Academy), as well as the annual spring ISU Fashion Show. I really enjoy keeping busy, as I’m a city girl at heart (hometown near Boston, MA). Outside of school you can find me learning languages, thrifting, exploring/traveling, painting or doing digital art. Khushi Jain

Transfer Chair

Hello everyone! I'm Khushi Jain, a 4th year architecture student planning to minor in Entrepreneurship. I am so excited to take on the role of Transfer Chair this year! I transferred from India as a sophomore and I've been thoroughly enjoying my time here at Iowa State University. Beyond architecture and HSB, I love to sketch, paint, bake, dance, and explore new places! After graduation, I plan to work at an architecture firm on the east coast and get my licensure hoping to have my own firm one day. As a transfer student myself, I understand the challenges one can face and I am here not only to actively support but also to make this year eventful and fun for our transfer students!

Philanthropy Co-Chair

Hey all! My name is Emily Pedersen. I am a sophomore studying Genetics on the Pre-Medical track from Olathe, KS! I am looking forward to serving as the HSB Philanthropy Co-Chair this year. I am also involved in the SHOP, Smiles for All (SFA), and the Pre-Medical Club, just to name a few! Fun fact, I lived in the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica for a total of five years - I love to travel and learn more about other cultures. Hello! My name is Suryansh, and I hail from St.Louis, MO. I'm a second-year in Environmental Engineering with a minor in English. Hello! Aside from being the 2023-24 Philanthropy Co-Chair, I'm an RA for Maple Hall, a sophomore advisor for the President's Leadership Class, and the Hydroponics Team Lead for Engineers for a Sustainable World. I also love all things music-related - producing, listening, learning instruments, etc. If you ever see me around campus be sure to say hi!


Phoebe Ditrinco

Events Chair

My name is Phoebe and this is my second year being HSB's Events chair! I am a Senior in Animal Science applying to veterinarian school this fall. I am originally from Boulder, Colorado, but just recently moved to Iowa. My favorite holiday is Halloween and I like to watch horror movies in my free time. I am most excited to coordinate the Honors Ball this spring. I look forward to interacting with everyone who attends my events and I hope to create something for everyone to enjoy this year!

Hi everyone! My name is Monet and I’m a sophomore majoring in Political Science. I am so excited to serve as this year’s webmaster! Outside of schoolwork, I love to dance and choreograph (shoutout Orchesis 1!), sew, and hang out with my dog Brantley and hamster Cher. Hi! My name is Hope, and I'm a first-year student in the Core Design Program. I intend on majoring in Industrial Design and minoring in Urban Studies. I'm from Chicago, Illinois, but now I live in the Anders house of Barton. I am the house's HSB representative and Community Service Chair. I am so glad I joined Honors and Anders! My house spends a lot of time watching movies, playing games, studying, and eating together. Outside of spending time with Anders, I enjoy crafting, drawing, thrifting, and listening to music. I've loved my experience in honors this year, and I'm happy to represent my house on the board!

A fun fact about me is that my name means climb to the moon!
